when shes an over 1000 years old anti-hero shapeshifter (that generally shapeshifts into animals or huge terrifying basts) who has trauma related to the word monster has killed a bunch of people is generaly seen as scary and has leaned on the “oh you think im a monster? you’re scared of me? im gonna give you a REASON to be scared of me” persona. and she has had a cool punk shaved head hairstyle and has sharp teeth and gets really attached to this morally-grey father figure and deep down all the wants is to be loved. and shes really funny and loves joking around and is probably mentally forever a teenager. and i love her very much
there’s just something about the way ballister was also openly different and “other” but thought if he did things the right way, if he upheld the Institute and was simply “good enough” then it would protect him too
only it didn’t. he’d thought he’d proven himself to be “one of the good ones” and could trust it, and he was lucky enough to be favored by the queen, but people never thought he belonged and turned on him as soon as he was a convenient scapegoat. the system was never on his side and he didn’t realize until it was too late
I’ve noticed something in Nimona and I’m adding pictures (UPDATED), but look at the catch lights in the eyes. Nimona has slightly rounded tilted diamonds,
Boldheart has squares (or sideways diamonds),
and the institute has diamonds
Golden Loin has triangles when he doubts the institute or is being purely himself
but diamonds when he’s fully on their side.
Glorith has the same eye shines as Nimona in the beginning,
but when she says her famous line, they’re diamonds.
Boldheart’s catch lights are always a square, or sideways diamond. He never fit in at the institute, but always stood for truth and honor.
This is just something I noticed that I think is cool.
The way Nimona said transphobia is the real danger to society by having the main villain literally point a cannon at a crowd of civilians to kill a “monster” who only lashed out because that society couldn’t accept that she only wanted to be loved for who she was in all her many facets.
